As a member of Heifer Partners for Change, I have joined forces with other donors to raise $2,919,820 by 2020 to fund a Dairy Development Project in Vietnam, providing 15,200 families with the tools and training they need to permanently lift themselves out of hunger and poverty.

In January 2016 I visited with the Vietnam farmers currently involved in our Project. They are warm, kind people whose goals are the same as ours: to put food on their table and earn an income for clean water, medicine, school and better homes.

This visit  reinforced my confidence and passion in Heifer’s work. Heifer is changing people’s lives, creating long term change that allows families to be self-supporting. This is not just marketing literature- this is FOR REAL.  I saw it in action and truly believe that this model is a viable solution to finally ending extreme hunger and poverty worldwide.

Heifer works in the Mekong Delta where approximately 4 million residents, vulnerable to climate change, natural disaster and diseases, are living on less than $1 per day.  The region has huge potential with agricultural and dairy production becoming one of the most profitable and sustainable sectors in Vietnam.

Your donation brings these items in our farmers: Biogas stove: $600; cow: $500; fresh water system: $300; grass chopper: $300; livestock shelter:$250; grass cutter: $150; artificial insemination straw: $100/cow; grass seed: $35; flock of chickens: $20; and ducks/geese: $20.

My goal is to raise $40,000 a year through June 2020. Tom and I have personally made a significant financial commitment to this worthy project and we hope you will join us in our efforts.

Your donation to Heifer through this page will increase farmers’ annual supply of milk and household income through engagement in the dairy value chain. It will improve families’ food security and nutritional practices to combat malnutrition in children.  It will build social capital and empower women to take leadership and decision-making roles in their communities.  And it will establish practices for disaster preparedness and environmental conservation.

These are Heifer’s achievable goals for the Vietnam Dairy Development Project.

With your help, we can make it happen.

With gratitude,

Marianne
