Welcome to the Earthbound: Change for Change in Nepal Campaign!
We are happy to announce that Earthbound is working with Heifer International to provide assistance to the Kewalpur and Mulpani villages in the Dhadig district of Nepal that were affected by the devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake that shook Nepal on April 25, 2015 and the second 7.3 earthquake on May 12. Over the years our gracious customers have donated on our behalf to Heifer International.
And moving forward, we want to narrow our scope by asking you to help us reach a new fundraising goal of $30,000 that will specifically assist these communities hardest hit by the earthquakes. Much of the donations to this page will come from in-store sales, but we would love for you to join in and donate directly to this page.
Earthbound is committed to helping Heifer create stronger communities throughout Nepal. What we raise together will provide goats, training and supplies.
Nepal is among the least developed countries in the world. Nearly one-third of Nepal’s population lives below the poverty line with more than 85 percent of the population living in rural areas, lacking access to food, water, shelter and clothing.
A typical Nepalese farmer owns less than 1.2 acres of land. Even on such small plots, livestock has the potential to improve diets and increase incomes. However, the current quality of the animals and the farmers’ skills to improve their livestock’s productivity are both poor.
For farmers—especially marginalized women, to thrive on small farms, they must work together, have higher-quality animals, be trained in better farming methods and be connected to formal agricultural markets. Heifer International is poised to meet these needs by training project participants in farm enterprise analysis and planning which will improve income and overall nutrition.
We cannot create this lasting impact in Nepal without the help of our customers. And we thank you for making this change possible with your donation!
